Pets: "I believe it was about 50 miles outside of Tulsa. There were reports of Tony (Tony Nelson Tispoli aka T-N-T) and his gang running an extortion ring in a nearby town. I was riding my big wheel from Austin, where Tex and I had just brought down a major counterfeiting operation, but that's a story for another day. Tex had to stay behind to run clean up with the Feds, so I was riding solo to meet the rest of the gang when I ran into trouble. T-N-T and his gang came out of nowhere. In the end I was knocked out from behind, but not before I took three of T-N-T's men down. When I awoke, I was in a dark room, hog tied with no way loose. I suddenly felt a wet nose against my hands and heard faint gnawing. When I turned, there was a small brown rabbit chewing threw the ropes. Once free, I picked up the rabbit and slid him into my pocket. After taking down T-N-T, I was off to Tulsa with that little rabbit on the back of my ride." That is the earliest account of the appearance of Johnny Dynamite's faithful sidekick as told by Johnny himself. Five years later, that small rabbit is known around the world as Sir Buddy Tyrone.
